Knit Project: Arm Knit Scarf

Have you ever arm knit a scarf?  It is a really satisfying thing to do.  It is a really quick project, even if you don't really knit, and you end up with a beautiful, cozy, chunky scarf.  I made my first one a few years ago and I still haven't gotten tired of making them.

I've made a bunch for Christmas gifts.  I've made them for my two older girls, at the time they were 2 and 4.  For them, I just made a really short version, kind of like a snood, that way they just slip it over their head and that's it, their necks are super warm and they don't have to worry about managing a regular scarf.

There are a ton of tutorials online for this.  My favorite is here.  It is super easy to follow, even if you're a very beginner.

This time, though, I used slightly different yarn than I normally use (normally I use 3 skeins of Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick and Quick).  I recently bought 6 skeins of Sidar Folksong Chunky in Tally Tree.  I was drawn to this shade because it has beautiful fall colors- though I really like all of the shades in this line of yarn.  I didn't have a project in mind when I bought it, I just thought it was beautiful.  So, I decided to make an arm knitted scarf with this yarn.

It turn out great!  Working with 6 skeins at once was pretty manageable.  I only had to stop once to detangle.

And, the scarf turned out really airy and cozy.  I can't wait to wear it this fall!
